These terms govern your use of the Speakeasy iOS app and its backend service, operated by BRKT Labs.

The service

Speakeasy records audio on your iOS device, transcribes it using Google's Gemini API, and deposits the transcript and audio file into your Google Drive. The service requires a Google account and grants to the app's requested permissions.

Your responsibilities

• You are responsible for the content of your recordings. Do not record people without their knowledge or consent where required by law.
• You are responsible for your Google account security. Speakeasy accesses your Drive through permissions you grant and revoke.
• Do not use the service for any unlawful purpose or to process audio you do not have the right to record.

What we provide

We aim to deliver reliable recording, transcription, and Drive upload. However, the service is provided on an "as is" basis. We do not guarantee:

• Uninterrupted availability — the service may experience downtime for maintenance or due to third-party outages (Google, Cloudflare, Apple).
• Transcription accuracy — Gemini's output may contain errors, especially with background noise, accents, or overlapping speakers.
• Data preservation beyond your Google Drive — temporary audio in our infrastructure is deleted after processing. Your Drive is the permanent copy.

Intellectual property

Your recordings and transcripts belong to you. We claim no ownership or license over content you create with Speakeasy. The app itself, its code, and its design are the property of BRKT Labs.

Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, BRKT Labs is not liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from your use of the service, including but not limited to lost recordings, inaccurate transcriptions, or interrupted access to Google Drive.

Termination

You may stop using Speakeasy at any time by removing the app and revoking its Google permissions. We may suspend access to the backend service at our discretion, with reasonable notice where possible.

Changes

We may update these terms. Material changes will be communicated to active users before taking effect. Continued use of the service after changes constitutes acceptance.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the Province of Québec, Canada.
